The UN Global Compact Office receives no funding from the regular budget of the United Nations. Salaries of its staff and its operating expenses are paid out of a trust fund into which governments make voluntary contributions on an annual basis. The Foundation has been established as a way to source funding from the private sector, including business, foundations and individuals, for events, publications, research and other activities to help raise awareness of the UN Global Compact, its ten principles and the ways of implementing them.

The Foundation exists to support the work of the UN Global Compact Office and related activities. It does not accept unsolicited funding proposals or requests for funding.
